Barcelona Museu Etnològic - Ethnology Museum

The Ethnology Museum houses a vast collection of items, from Australian Aboriginal boomerangs to rugs and jewellery from Afghanistan, although by far the most comprehensive collections are from Catalonia. Of the displays upstairs in the Ethnology Museum, most outstanding are the Moroccan, Japanese and Philippine exhibits, though in the Ethnology Museum there are also some interesting pre-Columbian finds. The attempts to arrange in the Ethnology Museum the pieces thematically, however, are not altogether successful: a potentially fascinating exhibition entitled 'Taboos', for instance, was a rather limp look at nudity in different cultures.
